April 29, 2008 – 8:06 pm
Since I have SOOOOO much work to catch up, I don’t have time to do a post with images and I’m attempting to blog everyday I’m going to do a blog game. I was tagged by Erin Rexroth to share 5 songs I’m embarassed to admit I like. Here is goes….
1. Will Smith/”Gettin’ Jiggy Wit’ it”- nanananananana.
2. The Carpenters/”Close To You” - I have a spot in my heart for The Carpenters.
3. Earth Wind And Fire-/”Boogie Wonderland”- I’m not really embarassed to admit this though. :o)
4.Bobby McFerrin/ “Don’t Worry Be Happy”- Words to live by.
5. Justin Timberlake-/”SexyBack”- as much as I like to tease my sisters about liking cheesey pop music, like Justin Timberlake, I might secretly turn up the radio when a new song of his is on. I am going to hear about this for a loooong time now!
Don’t throw rocks at me!!
I’ll think of 7 more people to tag and add tomorrow. I’m just trying to post by midnight!!!
Melissa + Ryan in Downtown Annapolis And Other Miscellany
April 28, 2008 – 8:55 am
The “+’s” of shooting an the whole weekend- no food, little sleep, LOTS of moving and ninja moves= -2 pounds on the scale. The “-’s” are no food, little sleep and hurt body= look/feel like I’ve been shooting all weekend! And I get to do it again tomorrow and all this weekend and the next and the next! At this rate I’ll be at my goal weight in no time!
One session I shot this weekend was Melissa and Ryan’s engagements, they are having a destination wedding in 09′- *so jealous*! They love Annapolis so we went downtown and took the usual route, no matter how many times I take my same route everyones photos still seem to be unique!
Ease them in with some head shots
Step back a little
Capture the looove
Would you believe this WASN’T my idea?

We usually change clothes in this bookstore, I’ve always wanted to ask someone to pose in it, finally did! Love it!

Since I’ve got so much shooting coming up, I am going to try to blog every day for 30 day’s to knock something off my 101 in 1001 list. Maybe they’ll be some goodies to win. hmmm. Maybe you should just check back every day.
ALSO- Marathon Session’s are THIS SUNDAY. And YES I might have a slot available so YES you should email or call me before its too late. For more info on this Sunday’s Marathon Sessions go to www.shelbyleigh.com/marathon.pdf (< - the RIGHT link this time).

4/25/2008 Wedding - Elkridge, MD
April 26, 2008 – 4:25 pm
Hi, my name is Shelby and I’m a blog-aholic. When did I have time to put together a detailed blog post with images from yesterdays wedding? It’s a secret.
Holly and Bryan are one of those couples that are just so cute, it makes you a little nauseous. Adding in that they had a beautiful, fun wedding day…too much! In between the puking I was able to capture some of the cute…
I’m joking of course!
DETAILS:
Ceremony: Grace Church
Reception: Elkridge Furnace Inn
DJ: Electra Entertainment
ETA: I KNEW when I posted this entry something was missing. Hello- where are the DETAILS?!

I loved this image the moment I took it.

A candid, nervous, excited, moment in the limo to the ceremony!

This church was a true test of my ninja skills. If some sort of wood pole wasn’t blocking my view, I was standing in the middle of the aisle. Crazy setup, but I passed. I think I was on the floor for this one.

Married!!! Now if they were only standing there for the ceremony it would have made my job a lot easier!

I call this the boy band pose.

The DJ was actually kind funny. He told Bryan, this is the last time he’ll ever have the upper hand!

The bouquet and garter winners. Like he’s not enjoying it!

I’ve seen that smile before. It’s the you-better-not-smash-that-cake smile.

Natalie + Huey
April 21, 2008 – 7:35 am
We had fun photographing Natalie’s senior portraits last year and she decided to come back this weekend for portraits with her beau of two years for another one! I knew this would be a good session, at our last one she jumped in the water, fully clothed in her homecoming dress at the end of our session and Natalie is also familiar with being behind the lens so I knew she’d do anything I told her (and Huey would just listen to her, of course).
Started off simple with head shots
The sun came out behind the clouds for a few minutes.

I told them to make a goofy face and they did the same thing!

She told me Huey was a good dancer- I’ll also be shooting a prom party session they’ll be attending next month!

4/18/2008 Wedding- Baltimore, MD
April 19, 2008 – 9:47 am
Wedding season has officially started! I seem to get the most friendly, loving, easy going couples- knock on wood. Julie and Matt got a beautiful day yesterday, I have been looking forward to shooting their wedding! Here are some highlights from their day
DETAILS
Ceremony: St. Casimir Church
Reception: Baltimore Marriott Inner Harbor at Camden Yards
Florist: A.F. Bialzak and Sons
Videography: Video Masterpiece
First, the girls getting ready…

She couldn’t get her ring on so her bridesmaid told her to lick her finger… it worked!

Off to snag herself a man!

Cutey

Inside the gorgeous church!

I was pleasantly surpirsed to hear I could use flash during the ceremony, but once I got their the natural light was gorgeous and I was using my new 135mm 2.0 lens so I didn’t have to turn it on once!!

I was caught off gaurd when the priest told them to kiss. I wasn’t it expecting them to do it at that time of the ceremony so I started shooting like crazy to make sure I got it!

Quick portraits nearby

I love how cheesey I can be

Reception time…

They made this card box using some of the photos from their engagement session!

First dance. This is where I start to get a little teary eyed.

Everytime I’m at a wedding now I take mental notes on the toasts, I’m so nervous about giving one at my sisters wedding this year!

The REAL dancing

I also had the pleasure of having the sensational Susan Solo second shooting for me- I had to take a self portrait.

Another thing I love about wedding season- I weighed myself this morning, dropped 1.5 pounds from yesterday!
Crystal Jo, Makeup Artist
April 13, 2008 – 8:05 pm
My sister is an uber talented makeup artist, she’s been doing makeup for years but recently started doing freelance work for herself. She’s had a website for a while now, but hardly has any samples in her portfolio- so she called me over to come shoot one of her bridal trial runs to beef up her website.
You can see Crystal’s website at www.crystaljo.com!
Speaking of this family refusing to work for The Man, one of my mom’s fantastic ideas is coming to life as a new family business. I’m SO excited to talk about it once everything is up and running. I’m in LOVE with it! Think, your favorite American food, but better! Any guesses?
#45 check!
April 12, 2008 – 6:35 pm
“45. Make 5 people i know watch The Secret, whether they like it or not. (5/5)”
I looked over my 101 in 1001 list today to see what I could try to accomplish and realized I had already done this one. I made 3 friends and 2 family members watch “The Secret”…so far!
So what is “The Secret”? Its a movie and a book (I’ve only watched the movie…many many times) but not like a novel book, more like a self help documentary style movie. Some people get it and some people think I should be sent to the looney bin. I will grant them that the movie is a little over the top and can seem a little strange at times but if you skip over the bad acted scenes and just listen to the speakers it can be life changing.
I’m not going to go into detail and butcher the whole secret so just rent it and watch it. You can buy it here, on amazon.com!
And since I have to take a photo of every completed task, here we are at the beach together putting on our cheesiest vacation smiles thanks to photobooth. :o)
