I want to introduce you to the 6 couples who will be competing for the 2010 Wedding Photography Package this weekend! On June 6 I will be sending out a scavenger list to all of them at 12pm, they have the weekend to complete a photo of each task but I expect most to get it in a few hours! Because I am a sap, I loved every couples story, and I am so excited to see who will win! Who are you rooting for? :o)

Anna + Stephen
We met as students at Salisbury University. My future wife spent one semester there and hated it so much that she transferred, but she stayed long enough to meet me, which is really all that matters. I graduated from SU and she recently graduated from the University of Maryland College Park. We kept in touch as friends for the past five or so years and last year she invited me as her date to her cousins’ wedding because she thought i’d be fun. I secretly think she did it because she wanted to marry me, but either way here we are, getting married. She’s my best friend, and I of course want what is best for her and to make her wedding day great. When she came to me with your website and told me how great your photography is, I knew it’s what she wanted. Our parents have offered to pay for some of the wedding, but we made this decision to get married on our own, when we’re not set with our careers, so we would like to take care of as much as we can so they can just enjoy the day instead of breaking the bank for it. I want to be the couple people look at and say “I want to be happy…just like them” and we believe your style of photography could convey that. We work nonstop, so we would have a blast taking a break from the world and going on your scavenger hunt. Attached is a picture of us from her cousins’ wedding, our first date.

Amanda + Jason
In August 2007 Jason came to work in my group at the Applied Physics Lab in Columbia. He really seemed like a genuine guy from very early on with a great sense of humor. We started to chat occasionally at work and then began dating. We really connected from the start. The first night we met we spent the whole night talking until the sun came up. It was really nice. From then on we have been inseparable. We do everything together and we are best friends. I don’t think two people have ever been more perfect for each other. No matter what we do we always have fun together. I feel like we grow closer with every day and I don’t think we would know what to do without each other. Its a great feeling to know that you are going to be marrying your best friend. We’re so happy together.

Maria + Chad
My fiancé, Chad and I are getting married Sept 4, 2010!! We are very excited and stressed all at the same time. We got engaged back in February and chosen to have the wedding in 2010 so we could save up. We are paying for our entire wedding on our own which will be difficult since we just bought a house and we’re also raising my niece…oh and we can’t forget our furry family members – Boxers Chance & Toby and cat Bella. J
Last August, unexpectedly my year 8 old niece Ariana came to live with us because her mom was going through some tough times. It has been quite the transitional period and we became parents overnight, but we wouldn’t trade it for the world. It helped us learn and grow and we believe we’re a stronger couple because of it. My sister takes Ariana on the weekends, which makes us her parents of the week (as she likes to call us).
I would love nothing more than to have you as our photographer, but I have yet to book because our wedding budget is $10,000 and that will still be hard to pull off. I am so in love with your work and I’m constantly checking out your blog to see what new photos you have up. Chad and I would LOVE the opportunity to join in on the fun and participate in the photo scavenger hunt!!!!! Any chance I can get to have you as our wedding photographer would make so so so happy! Thank you for being so awesome and even creating such an amazing possibility for someone!

Katie + Brad
I met Brad when my family moved into his neighborhood. I was 10 and he was 12. Brad was across the street with some of the other neighborhood boys playing basketball when we were moving. I saw him and had an instant crush. I grabbed my basketball and bounced it in our yard until they asked me to join them. Brad says that he developed a crush for me that day too. He tried to impress me with his athletic skills, but at that age I was much better at basketball. : ) Anyway, we were friends for many years, but didn’t start dating until we were both in college. In fact, in high school, he dated my best friend and I dated his.

Laura + Tom
We’ve been dating for a little over 3 years, and are getting married May 15, 2010 at the Howard County Conservancy. We currently live in Catonsville, MD with our dog Mugsy. Tom makes maps for a living, and I work at Social Security. He likes to fish, watch movies and hike with our dog, and I love to read, shop, bake and stalk wedding websites (what will I do when the wedding is over?!). I don’t have a sob story for you, but how about a funny one? Tom and I dated for the first time when we were 18 and 20 (almost 10 years ago, yikes!), and the first place we went on a “date” was Burger King…and I paid! He’s more than made up for it since then though.

Erin + Mike
Mike and I met in early October 2005 at the most romantic place in the world… a kickball field. I, having been in a relationship for just about 4 years at that time, noticed him and his long, curly, brown hair, bandana, and lip ring but knew that having googly eyes for him was as far as it was going to go. That, and telling my best friend how “cute” I thought he was. (Side note: Upon that comment, I was told that I should “see him with his hair cut”… a very appropriate comment for a hairdresser to make.) So while I now romantically I tell him that I didn’t talk to him then (and practically tried to avoid him) because I was intimidated by his beauty (haha)… I probably just seemed like a creepy stalker person at that point in time, at least in my mind. Fast forward 5 months… there’s a melancholy background to our actual “finding of each other.” On March 11th, 2006, my relationship of four years ended very badly, as many relationships that aren’t meant to be tend to do. On a much sadder note, two days prior, 35 miles away, Mike tragically lost his 17 year old brother in a car accident. One month later on April 11th, we had our first official date. It was a strange way to come together. I guess in a sense it was a comfort and sort of filled a void that both of us were feeling. And although it hasn’t always been easy, we call it “kismet” now. Fate.
