Tips For Planning Your Bridal Boudoir Photoshoot

I have gotten to work with many brides on their boudoir photoshoot and there are a few things that make planning a bridal boudoir photoshoot just a little different. Here I want to share a few tips to help you plan a photoshoot before your big day.

Plan In Advance

I recommend planning your photoshoot as far out in advance as possible.  You are going to want plenty of time to prepare for your photoshoot and extra time can provide you flexible budgeting options such as setting up a pre-payment plan. I personally suggest planning your photoshoot to take place at least 8 weeks before your wedding (which often means reserving your day in advance of that). I can some times accommodate tighter deadlines so I suggest reaching out directly if you are concerned.

The Look

Some women like to add subtle accessories like a veil, shoes or jewelry but incorporating your wedding into your imagery is optional. For your convenience, there is a veil at my studio available for any bride to use.

If your shoot is a surprise, you will want to make sure you have an excuse planned for the day of your shoot.  I often suggest saying you will be going for your hair and makeup wedding trial so that you can keep your style on for the evening without raising any suspicion. Perhaps you can get a close friend in on your plan.

If you’re not sure when to gift your book, here are a couple of options. First, you can gift your book the evening before your wedding. This gives your significant other time to enjoy it alone. Another option most women choose is to gift their book the day of the wedding – this allows your wedding photographer to capture their reaction. The last option is to gift your book the night of your wedding when the two of you are together.

Having a boudoir photoshoot before your wedding is a wonderful opportunity to capture a unique season of your life. Its a great memory for you and your significant other and something I am sure you will only appreciate more with time.
